This text provides a chronological presentation of 20th century Austrian architecture in English. Austria's architecture in the 20th century is many sided, from Otto Wagner to Hans Hollein and Adolf Krischanitz. Using over 100 selected buildings the roots, traditions and conditions from which Austrian architecture has developed are made accessible. A concise overview of building activities in the 20th century is conveyed, using over 900 documents, largely unpublished photographs and sketches, drawings and model. Austria's contribution to contemporary architecture is also highlighted.
