Texts by Lionello Venturi. 132 black-and-white plates (featuring works from the collection by Botticelli, Titian, Cimabue, Giotto, Melozzo da Forlì, Mantegna, Antonello da Messina, Veronese, Titian, Chinese art, Fattori, Lega, Boldini, Spadini, and others)

At the conclusion of the exhibition, Gualino made a commitment to the Ministry of Finance to donate all the works of art described in the prestigious 1926 volume *La collezione Gualino*, along with his collection of weapons, to the Galleria Sabauda. The donation took place on September 25, 1930. However, the Gallery could not provide adequate space for the works. Gualino then undertook the construction of a museum attached to the villa where he hoped to move, at the top of the hill (this villa-museum, however, was never completed). During the Fascist era, the works were transferred to London to serve as luxurious furnishings for the Italian embassy. In the late 1950s, to ensure the works could return to Italy, Gualino personally took it upon himself to purchase worthy replacements for the London location. It was not until 1958 that the works found their place in a dedicated section of the renovated museum.
