Giuseppe Uncini was an Italian sculptor and painter, famous for his works in iron and concrete. In 1958 he created the 'Primocementoarmato', a rough concrete slab reinforced with mesh and iron, and continued to experiment with this material the following year. In 1962, he formed Gruppo Uno with Gastone Biggi, Nicola Carrino, Nato Frascà, Achille Pace and Pasquale Santoro, for a social role in art. He began the 'ferrocementi' series and the 'strutturaespazio' series.
His numerous solo and group exhibitions include those at Palazzo Re Enzo in ologna; the Galleria del Cavallino in Venice; the Galleria di Christian Stein in Turin and his participation in the Quadriennali in Rome and the Venice Biennials. In 1962 he was among the winners of the Spoleto Prize. Uncini's latest work is 'Epistylium' (2007 - 2009), a reinforced concrete sculpture, over six metres high, created for an open-air exhibition space at the MART in Rovereto
