Illustrated People is the book-form recording of a performance by Thomas Mailaender, in which the artist applied original negatives selected from the Archive of Modern Conflict collections onto the skin of some models, projecting a powerful UV lamp onto them, thus creating a fleeting image on the skin. Mailaender then photographed each of his models before exposure to sunlight caused the images to disappear. The book includes shots of the performance mixed with a series of archival images from the AMC collection. Winner of the best photobook award at Paris Photo 2015 and of the latest edition of PHotoEspana Best Photography Book.
