Cm 19x15, pp. 72+28 Rilegato tela (cloth) Nuovo (New)Artemis offers an intense and intimate look at the relationship between humanity and the age-old practice of hunting, a relationship that is lost in the mists of time. At the center of this narrative is the figure of Carola, a young hunter whose connection to the ancestral aspect of this activity is of paramount importance.
For Carola, hunting represents more than just the act of procuring food: it is a deep connection to the life cycle itself. Her choice to actively insert herself into the food chain as a predator implies a deep understanding of the responsibility that such a role entails. It is a thoughtful choice, considering that Carola is limited to consuming only the meat she has personally hunted and slaughtered, two or three animals a year.
Hunting also takes on a vital role in caring for the territory she calls home: doing population control of deer, chamois, and roe deer for Carola also means taking part in caring for the territory in which she lives, considering that an overpopulation of these animals benefits neither the flora nor the fauna of the mountains, and operating a selective cull means protecting biodiversity.
With the forest Carola has a special bond, it is an environment in which she feels welcomed, at ease, it is part of her and she is part of the forest, in a silent communication whose roots go back a long time.
