Cm 24x22, pp. 210 Brossura (wrappers) Sovracoperta riparata con nastro adesivo (Small tear to dust jacket, tape repaired on verso) Molto buono (Very Good)Joze Plecnik (1872-1957), a Slovenian architect active in Vienna, Prague and Ljubljana, is one of the greatest exponents of Central European architectural culture.
"Within the Luigi Ghirri Photographic Archive, there is a substantial nucleus of negatives and slides of different formats that present the work and projects of various Italian and European architects and designers as their main subject. Since the 1980s, in fact, Ghirri's collaborations with various personalities linked to the world of contemporary Italian architecture have been increasingly numerous [...] the nucleus of photographs taken between 1988 and 1990, relating to Jo?e Ple?nik's urban reorganisation work in Ljubljana; some of these were published in issue no. 59 of the magazine "Lotus International", 1988 and in the volume by Alberto Ferlenga and Sergio Polano, Joze Plecnik. Projects and Cities, Milan 1990." (from the Panizzi Library website).
"The photographs that illustrated some of the architect's realisations have been replaced here by the images that Luigi Ghirri was able to capture in today's Ljubljana and that constitute, from another point of view, further evidence of a relationship that has no equal between an architect and his city" (from the preface).
"The photographs analyse the interventions along the course of the river up to the lock. Once again Ghirri's images are not a simple reproduction and documentation of architecture, but a true critical narrative that investigates the city".
