Realised between 1990 and 1995, the work embraces places in Italy, France, Spain, Greece, Turkey, Tunisia, Syria and Jordan, in an intimate and emotional reading that plunges the gaze backwards, far away, to classical times and beyond. Jodice revives and vibrates fragments of archaeologies, ancient skies, faces and bodies that live in the concreteness of marble or mosaic, and at the same time appear as semblances lost in a timeless abstraction, fiery landscapes full of mysterious gleams.

Mediterraneo constitutes one of the great works of Jodice's maturity.
