Guerrero is one of the poorest and most violent states in Mexico, but it is also one of the richest culturally. Theater is part of everyday life. Children, women and other inhabitants live on poppy flowers every day. They water them, take care of them and harvest them to then be sold to the best buyer. Many don't know or don't want to know what they are for. They see the poppy plant as another product of the field, an extra crop that sometimes gives them just what they need to survive since they cannot depend on corn alone.

The goal of this project is to document the rapid changes of communities in Montaña de Guerrero, Montaña Roja, and to understand their displacement, isolation and poverty, as well as their culture, traditions, economy and power dynamics.
