In 1979, Peress travelled to Iran for five weeks. In the whirlwind of the Khomeinist revolution, he chose to photograph his own disorientation, inventing a language of uncertainty with blurred and blurred shots. From this trip he returns with a very personal testimony on the fragile relationship between American and Iranian culture, published in his book Telex Iran.
Since 1971 Peress has been a member of Magnum Photos, where he has twice served as president and three times as vice president. He currently lectures on human rights and photography at Bard College in New York and is a research professor at the University of Berkeley.
