“During nine months I lived in Tel Aviv. During this period I met four young Jewish women who were born in the USA. They had all decided, at the age of 18, to go to Israel to do the military service. After completing the required two years of service, they decided to stay and live in this idyllic Middle Eastern city”. The images of four women are interspersed with landscape  and detailed views of the city - old cars, over grown palm trees, porticos, puddles of water.. Mixing color and black&white, hard flash and natural light, this book creates a sense of ambiguity placing the viewer in between the intimacy of the portraits and the deserted city of Tel Aviv.

“Ho vissuto nove mesi a Tel Aviv. Durante questo periodo ho incontrato quattro giovani donne ebree nate negli Stati Uniti. Tutte avevano deciso, all'età di 18 anni, di andare in Israele per fare il servizio militare. Dopo aver completato i due anni di servizio richiesti, hanno deciso di rimanere a vivere in questa idilliaca città mediorientale”. Le immagini delle quattro donne sono intervallate da paesaggi e viste dettagliate della città - vecchie auto, palme troppo cresciute, portici e pozze d'acqua. Mescolando colore e bianco e nero, flash e luce naturale, questo libro crea un senso di ambiguità ponendo lo spettatore tra l'intimità dei ritratti e la città deserta di Tel Aviv.
