The dialogue of the nominable and the unnameable, the figurative and the non-figurative, of infinite movement and limited form, is what has always constituted Hsiao Chin's work. It is a painting of signs without exactly definable meanings, which never represents specific objects or creatures, but which nevertheless always contains a power of virtual, anonymous, allusive figuration, a universal symbolism' (from the text by Kurt Leonhard).
