Cartelletta cm 24x16 Ottimo (Fine)The collaboration between the Danish artist Asger Jorn (Vejrum 1914 - Aarhus 1973) and the French publisher Georges Visat (Foce, Corsica 1910 - Arzacq 2001) was facilitated by the mediation of Roberto Matta. In fact, Jorn, being in Paris in search of a publisher, turned to his artist friend who gave him Visat's name, with the assurance that the printer would certainly not disappoint his expectations. Matta added that if he wanted to meet Visat, all he had to do was wait for him at 10 a.m. every morning at the café next to his studio at 13 rue du Dragon. One morning Jorn went to the café, but not daring to approach the publisher, he continued to stare at him until Visat, feeling he was being watched, approached the artist first. Jorn entrusted him with a series of engravings, telling him of his desire to make an edition of them. Only 15 copies of that series of 10 engravings were printed, which Visat collected in a folder and proposed to call ''Suitesurunjaponpourunlivrequin'existepas''. The text would in fact be conceived and organised at a later meeting at the Atelier Visat, an appointment that did not take place until a year later. The result, however, was an entirely new book, ''Entrée de secours'', with 9 different graphic works, printed in 100 copies in 1971. (Information partly provided by Yannick Minous Visat).
