Luciano Ori's artistic activity evolved from the post-metaphysical painting of his early years, to the abstract painting of the 1950s, to the technological painting and visual poetry of the 1960s, when he joined Gruppo 70 founded by Eugenio Miccini and Lamberto Pignotti. Personal exhibitions and national and international group shows in which Ori participated include: Linee della ricerca artistica in Italia, 1960-1980 curated by Nello Ponente, at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome (1981); La scrittura visuale in Italia, 1960-1970, at the Morra studio in Naples (1985); Il museo sperimentale di Torino. Arte italiana degli anni Sessanta nelle collezioni della Galleria civica d'arte moderna, curated by Mirella Bandini and Rossana Maggio Serra, at the Castello di Rivoli, Turin (1985); the XI Quadriennale nazionale d'arte at the Palazzo dei Congressi, Rome (1986); The artist and the book in twentieth century Italy, curated by Ralph Jentsch, at the Museum of modern art, New York (1992-93) and, in Venice, at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection (1994); Continuità. Art in Tuscany 1945-2000, at Palazzo Strozzi in Florence, Palazzo Fabroni in Pistoia and at the Luigi Pecci Centre for Contemporary Art in Prato (2002).
