Ivor Cutler (Glasgow, 15 January 1923 - London, 3 March 2006) was a Scottish poet, songwriter, humourist, children's writer, storyteller, actor and painter. He became famous for his appearances on various BBC Radio programmes, particularly those hosted by John Peel. He wrote many books mainly for children and was for 30 years a teacher of dance, poetry, drama and music for children between the ages of 7 and 11. His works are pervaded by a humorous and surreal humour, often tinged with melancholy.
