Things Never Seen. Postcards and exhibition invitations from the 1950s to the 1980s
To celebrate Libreria Marini's 30th anniversary throughout 2023, we will be presenting a series of exhibitions dedicated to the subjects we have always been passionate about. We are therefore happy to inaugurate with 'THINGS NEVER SEEN. Postcards and invitations to exhibitions from the 1950s to the 1980s'.
A kaleidoscopic selection of postcards, flyers and exhibition invitations recounting Italian and international art from the 1950s to the 1980s. Places, galleries, performances and happenings, exhibitions that animated the Italian cultural scene observed in the space of a few centimetres of paper, those used to communicate events. Square or rectangular in shape, folded, on coated paper, on tissue paper, bolted, stapled, bound, travelled or not: these are the ephemera of contemporary art that have arrived (miraculously!) intact to this day, archaeological finds that testify to fundamental stages of major art in major centres such as Rome or Milan, or minor events that contributed to the artistic vitality of our country in the 20th century.
The exhibition includes invitations with texts and images by artists such as Lucio Fontana, Meret Oppenheim, Joe Tilson, David Hockney, Richard Nonas, Jim Dine, Mario Ceroli, Giandante X, Gilbert & George, Dennis Oppenheim, Enzo Cucchi, Alighiero Boetti, Vettor Pisani, Tom Wesselmann, Tomaso Binga, Arshile Gorky and many others.
