It was the country's official satirical magazine and part of the press organ La Verità (Pravda) of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CC PCUS), and was, in fact, the party's executive 'finger' pointed at satire and especially graphic satire. Readers considered and perceived Krokodil's cartoons not only as entertainment, but also as messages of power encoded in the drawings.
