Discover the world of Franchina, Cioccolatina, Lulù, Ramona, Brigida, Ornella, Monica the Viking, Fiorella, Rosa, Ambra and Graziella – Sicilian transvestites living/working in Catania's neighbourhood San Berillo, that has always been the red-light district.
The “girls neighbourhood” was set in the city in such a way that it seemed like a separate territory, like an island without the sea around it or a castle without fortifications. After entering one of the alleyways of entry around the perimeter it feels like you are closed in, watched over and shielded. It's like entering a private village. This story is not only poetic. It's also a story of suffering for a rejected identity. Often it is also a story of misery. There's the need to sell oneself as the only possibility for existing.

Scoprite il mondo di Franchina, Cioccolatina, Lulù, Ramona, Brigida, Ornella, Monica la Vichinga, Fiorella, Rosa, Ambra e Graziella - travestiti siciliani che vivono/lavorano nel quartiere San Berillo di Catania, da sempre a luci rosse. Il "quartiere delle ragazze" era inserito nella città in modo tale da sembrare un territorio a parte, come un'isola senza il mare intorno o un castello senza fortificazioni. Dopo aver imboccato uno dei vicoli d'ingresso lungo il perimetro si ha la sensazione di essere chiusi, sorvegliati e protetti. È come entrare in un villaggio privato. Questa storia non è solo poetica. È anche una storia di sofferenza per un'identità rifiutata. Spesso è anche una storia di miseria. C'è la necessità di vendere se stessi come unica possibilità di esistere.
